I bring many experiences and expertise to my audio and music work. I’m an electroacoustic musician and songwriter. I performed across the Pacific Northwest with multiple bands and solo. I have released two albums, the latter of which I composed, recorded, mixed, and mastered. I currently release as Big Stitch. I was an assistant producer at Houston Public Media on the Murrow-award-winning podcast Below the Waterlines and subsequently a producer for their investigative team’s podcast. I have done freelance podcasting production, including for the BBC.

I have taken over 27 podcast and music production courses from Radio Boot Camp, SALT Institute, NYU, Berkeley Advanced Media Institute, Poynter Institute, In The Dark, SoundPath, Writing Pad, Underdog Electronic Music School, Metamind Music Academy, and Hall of Justice Recording Studio.

I am skilled in Studio One, Bitwig Studio, Izotope RX, Descript, Loopy Pro, and countless plugins. I am proficient in Pro Tools, Hindenburg, Logic Pro, and Reaper. I own and play mandolin, octave mandolin, electric octave mandolin, tenor guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, clawhammer banjo, electric bass guitar, and ukulele. I’m proficient at drum and synth programming.

For 25 years, I worked as a research scientist and professor. I published research on disasters, climate change, urban development, technology, government policy, and social issues. I have interviewed hundreds of people worldwide, from the top of city halls to international relief camps. I’ve published in and been interviewed for several news outlets. Telling stories about complex topics like technology and science in compelling ways is a strength of my work. I studied improv and storytelling at Ryan Stile’s Upfront Theater and the Alan Alda Center, having trained others in storytelling.
